January 2025!

Jan 03, 2025Isa Fernandez

The start of a new year is always filled with fresh resolutions and aspirations, and for many of you—our wonderful patrons—I’m willing to bet that books are a big part of your plans for 2025. Whether you’ve set a goal to read more, decided to put yourself on a book-buying ban (good luck with that one!), or are venturing into genres outside your comfort zone, it’s clear that reading holds a special place in your life.

I want to take a moment to remind you of something important: If you have a towering "To Be Read" pile that feels overwhelming, you’re not alone. Trust me, I’ve been there. And while resolutions can be a great way to stay motivated, when it comes to reading, I believe in one simple mantra—give yourself grace.

Reading is one of those magical things that comes to us exactly when we need it. Sometimes we tear through books faster than we can stack them, and other times we find ourselves in a bit of a reading slump. Either way, it’s okay. If you reach your reading goals this year, that’s absolutely amazing! But if you don’t, it’s equally okay. Reading should always be a source of joy, not stress.

So, here’s my challenge to you for 2025: just keep reading. Keep flipping those pages, whether they’re physical or audio, and let yourself enjoy the journey that each story takes you on. Even if you’re "just" reading fiction, you’re learning and growing with every book. Stories have a way of teaching us things about ourselves—our emotions, our dreams, and even the way we see the world.

This year, let’s embrace reading as a source of inspiration, relaxation, and discovery. Let’s celebrate every book we finish and every new one we begin. Because at the end of the day, the simple act of reading is an achievement in itself.

Happy New Year, and here’s to a fantastic year of books, stories, and growth!

Yours,

Isa
